Oh man you guys, I've had the craziest past two days ever.

If ya'll remember, my evil co-worker of doom has been making me collect all my data from the past two months and put it all in one place because of a "database". Well he def lied about there being a database. Turns out the stupid small business didn't actually think things through and looking through next years budget they couldn't really afford my position so they let me go- terminated the whole position. So I cried for the whole drive home and then got so pissed off- I don't understand why businesses hire ppl just to lay them off a couple months later. One of my other co-workers said that's happened to him three times in the past year. So stupid and frustrating!!

In happy news, there's a job open at the college in the town I live in (I commuted 45 min to work everyday) as an admissions assistant. The requirements for the job included good oral presentation skills and data entry. I would be doing phone calls, data entry and most importantly- giving presentations to high school kids. I love giving presentations and working with kids comes easy to me and I'm certainly qualified for the job- i was on the college's speech and debate team plus i did work study using the colleges databases, plus I'm an alumni of the place. So I have my application ready to go and I'm going to take it this afternoon.

Also found out that the unemployment agency is going to just reactivate my old claim so I don't have to do any of the paperwork and I should get the support from them starting next week. That's a huge relief considering we couldn't pay bills even when I was working. I'm trying to see this entire situation as a blessing in disguise cus I really and truly hated working at the old place and with the evil coworker of doom.

Not to mention after two days of working 12 hour days (reg job and dance) it felt AMAZING to sleep in today. I was getting so annoyed with being tired all the time.

Grrrr!!!! that is so fucking annoying. I am so sorry for you bb, sadly I know all too well how bastardly the workplace can be. Still can't believe they made you collate all that work and then terminate your contract after you handed it in. utter dicks. *hugs*

But like you said, hopefully this has all been a blessing in disguise and you get the awesome new job!! I shall keep everything crossed for you my dear ♥

I'm unemployed too, so I understand the situation. But I'm optimistic and I have hope that next year will bring great things. :)

That really is irresponsible of your old employer. But you're being really proactive about finding a new job and it sounds like the new job possibility could actually be fun and suited to what you like. Good luck--rooting for you!

I hear you. I've been stuck on unemployment for a while, and my situation isn't improving. Then again, I don't have any kind of college degree, so I have that working against me. The good thing with all of this time is that I've been able to really go over my options and figure out my next step. Positivity and a really, great supportive family has made it easier for me to get through.

So I wish you the very best of luck in nabbing that job at your local college. And stay positive and never give up. I know how much of a setback it is to be in this position, but you'll be okay. You'll find a way through this, and a good, positive attitude is a definite step in the right direction. :)
