You got it all right, the characterization of both Damon and Elena felt right, natural, I wished the writers would've went down that way, for one we would've gotten a taste of Delena and for another Elena wouldn't have savaged Damon's heart further.
I love how they just slept next to each other, and because they have an unspoken understanding they gave each other what they needed, Damon's back to his snarky ways and Elena is that much closer to picking the right brother *cough*Damon*cough*
