the difference between the two comms is that merlinxarthur is JUST for stories and other stuff that focus on merlin and arthur. merlinslash is for any type of slash pairing. merlin/arthur, merlin/gwaine, morgana/gwen...you get the idea.
I do post my stories on both communities as well as merlinfic and merlinbbc . There's also some other communities for gen pairings and rare pairs if you write any of those.
Aso, if you're into challenges, these are the main Merlin Challenge comms:
There's also summer pornathon, but I don't remember where it's hosted. All of these are either closed or going on now, but it's nice for future reference.
There's ongoing challenges at merlin_land and an ongoing prompt fest at kinkme_merlin. The kink me merlin comm is absolutely epic and inspires a lot of stories!! Um, someone is also hosting a kinkspiration thing that is monthly challenges to write a new kink. I can find the hostee if you're interested.
