what the heck?

So in the past couple weeks I've got random comments on a couple of my olderish stories on various websites and they've all been backhanded compliments. Like, 'this is great, but this part kinda sucked. but not really.' type of things. And I'm just kind of confused and a little bit pissed off.

I understand that writing is a growing process, and not everyone appreciates the same things- but I just find it rude. I would NEVER leave negative feedback on someone's work like that. Even if I really didn't like it, that's no reason to belittle the time and effort the author put into their story. If I was confused about their choices, I would politely ask them their thought processes, but not flat out say I hated it.

meh. I guess it's just getting my flamer/troll cherry popped but--- it really kind of upset me.

I'm considering taking my stuff down to be honest. Or at least making everything friends only. At this point in my writing, I do it for fun- for the creativity of it and as an outlet, not for people's affirmation.....but on the other hand I'm an insanely sensitive person and negative stuff that isn't constructive criticism really gets to me :(

ughh. rude. I'm sorry someone's being an ass to you. Are they all anonymous, or are they coming from the same account or the same multiple accounts?

ETA: I forgot the most important part-- Don't take your fic down! It's probably just some bitter troll without enough courage to put his/her own story out there. I'm sure the people who read your work and enjoy it would be very disappointed to see it go because of some catty asshole.

Oh, I am NOT impressed with the person/people who are taking time out of their busy day to make someone else feel bad. Grrrr. It's not necessary. I'm quite happy to just not comment on stories that don't work for me, and I've even been known to leave a positive supportive comment on a weak story, to encourage a beginner writer or someone who is writing in a language that's not their first language, because those kinds of writers really make me proud.

I'm hoping you keep your stories up. Fandom is so full of wonderful stories, and each one is a gift to a reader like me. Trolling someone's stories or feelings with unkindness just means more stories go private or get taken down, and then there are treasures that I will never have the opportunity to discover. My heart breaks every time a story gets taken down, sometimes it's devastating to my emotions.

I hope the support of real fans and real friends makes up for the sting of unkindness you have had to endure. *HUGS YOU SO TIGHT*

Oh don't mind them, stupid trolls, what do they know?

I know that your fics are awesome, one of the reasons I started reading Merlin fanfic (Can't decide which one of them it was, I'll go with all of them really) and you shouldn't mind these people. Review is good only if the person is nice and polite, otherwise they are just huge asses and you shouldn't mind them!
